A renowned manufacturing company called Arimation Robotics was recently contracted to resolve an ongoing electrolyte battery dosing issue. Their client designed a renewable battery that featured cutting-edge energy storage capabilities, but their battery dosing system was experiencing manufacturing bottlenecks.
The Arimation engineers evaluated and tested over a dozen pumping solutions before selecting precision metering pumps from Zaxis to meet their strict project requirements.

The Arimation Robotics Electrolyte Battery Dosing Project
Arimation Robotics was recently contracted by one of their customers to find a reliable solution for dosing electrolytes into their battery products at a high rate. These state-of-the-art batteries provide energy storage solutions for the renewable energy sector.
The company’s previous solution was to use over a minute to fill each battery with proper electrolyte doses, but now they’ve been able to cut this cycle time to under 10 seconds. The Arimation Robotics team was tasked to de-risk these manufacturing efficiency upgrades, and they found a formula for success by focusing on pumping solutions.
After evaluating over a dozen pumping solutions, they chose Zaxis to develop a critical pump component that reached a reliable, 10-second cycle time that also met their unique corrosion-resistance requirements. The project’s end solution also included the Camco conveyance system, Rockwell PLC and TEKNIC Servo on the pumps.
The overall value of this project’s solution is that it reduces the battery’s fill time by 80%, it resolves the client’s manufacturing bottleneck, and it safeguards the workforce environment.

The Zaxis team partnered with Instrument Pump Inc. to provide Arimation Robotics with a cost-effective positive displacement pump that was perfectly suited for dispensing electrolytes into complex batteries.

For Arimation Robotics, we utilized diamond-hard ceramics alongside a positive displacement, servo-driven, valveless metering pump design that’s ideal for dispensing corrosive materials with high precision. Here’s some more information regarding these details:
- Valveless = no clogs, very little maintenance
- Diamond-hard ceramics = millions of maintenance-free cycles
- Servo-driven = plenty of torque with control, step and direction
Zaxis typically offers businesses with dynamically adjustable metering pump solutions with embedded electronics, but we ended up customizing our solution for Arimation Robotics by providing a manually adjustable pump with no onboard electronics. This offer made it more cost-effective for them to maintain the same electrolyte battery dosing performance when the shot volume doesn’t change.
